Many people treat the continent as their home and cherish its food, history, music, architecture (especially in France), and art. Europeans are also very environmentally conscious, and as a result, there are hundreds of green cities and local and national parks. The continent has a rich culture you can learn about by paying attention to its architecture, people, and history.
Many cities & towns were founded on trade routes, such as the Rhine in Germany and the Seine in France. There are also many castles and fortresses, such as Windsor Castle in England, along with monasteries.
Nature and Wildlife
There are various wildlife species, including amphibians, arachnids, fish, insects, mammals, mollusks, and reptiles. In addition, Europe is home to several endangered species and variations of each animal. It has numerous habitats, including temperate forests, mountains, plains, prairies, deserts, and boreal forests.
Most of the continent is covered by dense forests (mainly coniferous ones). There are also large areas of grassland and wetlands. The largest forests are in the southeast, including the Carpathian Mountains, Black Forest, Jura Mountains, and the French Ardennes. The Alps in Switzerland and Austria are also vast, with over 2 million hectares of forest.
Climate and Weather
The climate is generally moderate, with oceanic climates at higher latitudes and continental Mediterranean climates in the south. The weather is also mild around the year, but there are occasional winter and summer seasons. The European countries are served by numerous airports, highways, and high-speed railways.
Europe’s culture is rich in history, and despite centuries of conflict, the continent is a melting pot of many nationalities. Europeans are known for their tolerance of different races & religions and their love of nature.
